Say to wisdom, “you are my sister” and make understanding your closest friend. For they will keep you from the immoral woman... Proverbs 7:4-5a Women's Discipleship Group 2006 ARE YOU READY FOR THE WORD??? THIS YEAR'S TOPIC: Helpmates, Handmaidens and Harlots What is a Handmaiden? A single or married woman that is committed to serving the Lord and walking in her purpose. What is a Harlot? A married or single woman who is committed to selling her body and soul for personal gain. WHAT WILL BE THE FOCUS OF HHH: • Learning how to develop a strong and committed spiritual life and to make godly choices in a world that pressures women to conform to an ungodly lifestyle. • Learning how to protect yourself, your marriage and/or children from the rising influence of ungodly values. • Learning how to defend your spiritual beliefs and confront the attacks against your faith. HELPMATES-HANDMAIDENS-HARLOTS OVERVIEW: Not long ago the harlot lived a secret life on the fringe of society. But now ungodly women are not only in full view but waging moral war against godly singled and married women . The influence of harlotry can be seen in revolving relationships; promiscuous parenting; provocative dress; greed and selfishness; a rainbow of sexual preferences; and declining moral and spiritual values. In the midst of a changing social order, the godly woman must find the courage to march to the beat of a different drummer. HELP ME TO WRITE THE HHH BOOK: Yes, I am writing a new book entitled: The Power and Influence of Helpmates, Handmaidens and Harlots. This is my plan: Each week I will write my view of a specific area in the life of Helpmates, Handmaidens and Harlots. I will then open the topic up for you to share your experiences and/or offer questions and comments concerning HHH. There will be a site at the bottom of each lesson that will allow you to give your input. In order to write an effective book I will need the help of women with various life experiences. So feel free to share your stories and point of view with your on-line sisters. Whatever you do, please don't feel that what you have to say may not be important or will cause you to feel foolish or embarrassed. You are free to give your name or omit your name but please participate. The bible study will include eleven topics with four lessons per topic. A new lesson will be posted each week. The topics are as follows: 1. Spiritual Life FIRST UPCOMING LESSON: Topic: Spiritual Life Lesson #1: Who Or What Do You Worship? Be honest with yourself! Are there things in your life that are more important than your relationship with the Lord? Do you find that sometimes your schedule, goals, relationships or other things get in the way of your walk with God? Would you like to find a way to devote more time to your spiritual life? THIS LESSON IS FOR YOU! WDG WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO! Women's Discipleship Group is deeply committed to community and global outreach. Our track record of service is as follows: • Organized Angels on Assignment annual fundraiser to help those in need. • Donated more than twenty thousand dollars to Rosa Parks Neo-natal Intensive Care Center and High Risk Clinic. • Purchased computers and audio equipment for two churches in South Africa. • Supported Gloria White Hammond's efforts to buy back slaves in Sudan. • Purchased books and uniforms to help a boarding school in Louisiana care for young girls from New Orleans after the Katrina hurricane. • Made our first installment of five thousand dollars to help Habitat for Humanities build houses for Katrina survivors. • WDG sisters volunteered to work at a Habitat for Humanity building site erecting houses. This included roofing, hanging doors and framing windows. • WDG Miami working with Project Hope to find housing for displaced Katrina families. Becoming a part of WDG does not always require physical labor but we will keep you busy doing good works and glorifying your Heavenly Father. | How Women's Discipleship Group Got Started The Women's Discipleship Group was organized in 1999 by Terri McFaddin and Janet Bailey. The purpose of the discipleship group was to assist women in becoming rooted and grounded in their Christian faith. It was designed to also help women reach the level of spiritual maturity that would enable them to use their gifts and talents in various arenas of service and ministry. We move toward these goals by implementing the following principles: 1. Building spiritual strength by a systematic study of the Word of God, including prayer; memorizing scriptures and weekly meetings. 2. Building strong relationships within the discipleship groups. This includes encouraging one another and being sensitive and supportive of one another's needs. 3. Training women to become servants and ministry leaders in their churches, mission fields, communities, schools, businesses or wherever God has called them to serve. What We Believe The women of WDG are a mixture of many different Christian denominations. But we all believe that we have eternal life through our personal confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that the entire Word of God is true and we govern our actions by the counsel of the Holy Bible. We believe that we are called by God to be examples of godliness by loving one another and ministering to those who are in need of our help. About Terri McFaddin Solomon Terri is an ordained minister, author, speaker and songwriter with two Grammy Awards to her credit. Terri co-wrote two theme songs for the movies: Big and Men In Black . She authored three books: God Made Me Beauty-full ; Only A Woman and Sapphires And Other Precious Jewels. Terri was born and raised in Philadelphia, where she attended Temple University. She holds a Masters Degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. In 1999 she and close friend Janet Bailey, founded WDG, which prepares women for service in various areas of ministry. There are currently five WDG bible studies taking place in various locations. In October, 2005, Terri married Charles Solomon and resides in Los Angeles. She is a member of Faithful Central Bible Church and the mother of two adult daughters, Roslyn and Theresa who are also in the ministry. |
