OPENING STATEMENT:
My Story:
My Grandmother Sadie once told me that her Grandmother Cordilla prayed a special prayer over our family. She said, “Lord, bless my children. Lord, bless my children’s, children... May all the generations of my family accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.” Thanks to the prayers of my great-great-grandmother Cordilla, who died long before I was born, I am blessed to know Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. I even pray the same prayer that she prayed long ago: “Lord, bless my children. Bless my children’s children… May all the generations of my family accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.” I now understand that as we speak blessings over our family the blessings are passed down from one generation to the next.
The Helpmate’s Story
Proverbs 20:7 – The godly walk with integrity and their children are blessed after them. Some husbands and wives come from backgrounds where there was a family curse such as alcoholism or sexual abuse. But as you live a life that is pleasing to the Lord and obey God’s Word, the satanic strongholds of past generations cannot imprison you and your family. I want to encourage you and your husband to call things that are not, as though they were (Romans 4:17b). Boldly proclaim the following blessings over all the generations of your family:
- Our family will be blessed with love and respect and not cursed with hatred.
- Our family will be blessed with peace and unity and not cursed with divorce.
- Our family will be blessed with prosperity and not cursed with poverty.
- Our family will be blessed with health and strength and not cursed with sickness.
- Our family will be blessed with godly children and not cursed with rebellious children.
- Our family will be blessed with righteousness and not cursed with sin and perversion.
- Our family will be blessed with service to the Lord and not cursed with carnality and selfishness.
The Handmaiden's Story:
One of the greatest gifts that a handmaiden of the Lord can offer to her family is to speak blessings over them. So many times family members curse at one another without realizing that the curse is real and it will return to the sender. (Psalm 109:17) – He loved to pronounce a curse—may the curse come on him; he found no pleasure in blessing—may blessings be far from him. I urge every godly handmaiden to pray the following blessings over all the generations of your family:
- Lord, bless my family with salvation and remove the curse of being lost from you.
- Lord, bless my family with godliness and break the curse of sin and addiction.
- Lord, bless my family with protection and deliver us from the curse of destruction.
- Lord, bless my family with unity and deliver us from the curse of division.
- Lord, bless my family with love and deliver us from the curse of hatred and anger.
- Lord, bless my family with prosperity and deliver us from the curse of poverty.
- Lord, bless my family with generosity and deliver us from the curse of selfishness.
The Harlot’s Story:
The lifestyle of a harlot can prevent God’s blessings from covering her family members. But in the book of Joshua, Rahab, the harlot, repented and her family was saved. Your words of repentance can break the curse of sin over your children and other family members and release the blessings of the Lord into your life. If you are not living a life that is pleasing to the Lord I urge you to pray the following prayer:
- Lord, I confess my sins. Please break the curse of rebellion over me so that my family can receive your blessings.
- Lord, take away my lustful desires. Please show me how to live holy so you can release your blessings to my family.
- Lord, wash away my guilt and shame. Please let me know that you love me and my family and that you desire to give us your blessings.
- Lord, I acknowledge that I sinned in front of my family. Please don’t allow my actions to lead them astray. As I repent before you, please bless my family.
- Lord, I acknowledge that I was on a wrong path. Please show me the purpose that you have for my life so I can be a blessing to my family.
YOUR STORY:
Please share the family blessings that were spoken over you and that came to pass. Or, tell us what blessings you prayed over a family member that came to pass.

Thank God for a wonderful husband!
Just recently I went on a business trip. The day I came home my husband had a wonderful meal cooked for me…fried chicken, collard greens and corn on the cob. On top of enjoying a great meal, he surprised me with a dozen, long stem pink roses and gave me a foot massage. He often makes a romantic gestures and this was just one of them. I pray that every woman would be blessed with an experience as joyful as mine.

Family Tea Party
Last week was my mom’s birthday. One of the things that the women in my family love to do is to get together and have a tea party, so we gave my mother a tea party in the backyard. We don’t always need a special occasion to have a family tea party. We just like to get together and have tea and baked cookies (the frozen kind). We served them warm and top them with strawberries or blueberries and a dab of Cool Whip Lite. This is our time to talk and catch up on what everybody is doing. We also like to pray together. Of course the men and boys in our family usually end up joining us. After the girls finish talking, the guys like to sit at the table and eat the left over cookies or pie. I think all families should have a time when they get together – just to be together.
