On September 29th and 30th - 2006, Women's Discipleship Group (WDG) will host our first annual WATTS WOMEN'S ACTIVIST CONFERENCE. This event is designed to get Christian women involved in reaching out to help the unsaved and disadvantaged women in the Watts community in South-Central Los Angeles.
We will host this event at the Tabernacle of Faith Baptist Church, 11328 S. Central Ave., L.A., located on the fringes of Nickerson Gardens Public Housing Complex.
Nickerson Gardens is home to more than 5000 women who are either underemployed or on welfare. These sisters do not have the resources to attend a conference where they can receive encouragement and guidance, so we are bringing the conference to them.
WDG is already reaching out to the women of the "Garden" and they are excited about the possibility of life-changing ministry coming into their community.
We are attempting to raise-up an army of godly women and men who will volunteer to become WEEKEND MISSIONARIES in Watts, California. This is not a weekend for spectators. Those in attendance will be asked to sign up to do one of the following: Conduct a small group workshop; witness from door to door; pray for families; handle administrative duties; serve food; help clean up; or provide activities for the children.
